reasons to drink tea
Tea is the most consumed beverage in the world, second only to water. This is no coincidence, and today, I want to share why people drink tea daily.
If you are a tea drinker, you identify with some of them; if you are not, who knows, maybe you will try it.
On the one hand, we have all the therapeutic properties you have heard of; it is suitable for the immune system, fights free radicals, helps prevent cardiovascular diseases, reduces the risk of some cancers, and helps lose weight.
All this is very good, and if what the studies point out is true, these benefits should not be rejected, but to be honest, this has not motivated humanity to consume camellia Sinensis leaves for 5000 years. Simply because, at that time, nothing was known about this.
What makes tea interesting compared to other drinks is its ability to unite, its strength, its evolution and adaptation to different cultures and social strata, its ability to keep company, and its history…
I imagine, say, 3,000 years ago, mountain dwellers in what we now know as southern China, Vietnam, or Thailand eating tea buds and leaves from trees. They had a citrus flavour which allowed them to be awake and energized.
Today we can go to a luxury hotel, order an afternoon tea and end the evening with Champagne, enjoy the best Earl Gray or any other variety in the world.
It is fascinating to observe this evolution, but it is not that this custom has disappeared; if today you travel to these areas, lost in the mountains, you will see the inhabitants of these areas heating their metal cups of water on a rustic fire. At the same time, they put some leaves of tea inside.
Without any filter or atrezo they enjoy their bitter and rude drink as their ancestors did.
This is just a tiny sample of what this drink hides; you can discover a different story in each town, village or city—another tea, an additional preparation, simple ceremonies or a lot of protocol.
This is the true magic of tea, which makes every day many of us a little happier when having a cup of tea.
After the “little instruction”, I am going to give you the reasons why I think it is worth drinking tea:
It has been proven that tea is beneficial for the body: it helps fight excess weight, stimulates fat burning, is good for the skin, hair and nails, is an ally against aging, detoxifies, cleanses, helps prevent cancer and countless other virtues.
But there is a more substantial reason for drinking tea every day: by doing so; we become part of its ancient culture, refinement and good taste, elegance and tradition, meetings around tea or the company of a simple cup. Drinking tea invites you to take care of yourself and worry more about your health, awakens your senses and stimulates the mind.
Drinking tea is a habit that, when it conquers you, becomes a way of life that will never cease to fascinate me. There is so much to discover in a cup of tea that the best thing is to let yourself be tempted, go to a specialized tea shop, and let yourself be carried away by the senses, the emotions, your taste and after a while, you will see how different from seeing this drink.
There are so many varieties of tea that not even living a thousand years could you taste everything it offers.
