Infusions to lower blood pressure
I usually like to tell stories about tea more than about its properties, but so many people ask us about specific common topics that it is best to spend the time deserved to research and tell you what I know about high blood pressure.
First of all, to be responsible, this is not a guide, nor should it be substituted for any medication. My philosophy is that YOU LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR; they are accountable for your health.
Before fully recommending some infusions, it is worthwhile to advise you on some basic things that will help you fight hypertension:
- Eat healthy and wholesome. + more fruit and vegetables – meat, processed and fats.
- Reduce salt intake.
- Do some physical exercise.
- Try to reduce stress.
- Do not smoke.
- Don’t drink alcohol.
In short, have a healthy lifestyle, and do not try to leave all the responsibility to medicinal plants or certain active ingredients. High blood pressure is hazardous, and it is best to have it controlled by a doctor.
Now yes, I will recommend four infusions to help you control high blood pressure.
Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa)
This flower is a lent ingredient in herbal teas because it adds a deep red colour and a tart flavour. Hibiscus contains anthocyanin, an organic compound that adds purple-red pigment to fruits and vegetables. Some studies suggest that hibiscus may help treat high blood pressure and maintain healthy cholesterol levels. The hibiscus flower also contains quercetin, an anti-inflammatory that allows us to digest well and relieves the symptoms of arthritis.
This flower is found in a large part of the fruit infusions that you can look at here. It is also delicious with its bittersweet flavour.
Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis)
Well known among our customers, this leaf, also called “red bush”, has excellent antioxidant power and is perhaps the most popular and consumed non-theine drink. It is a base for many “blends” or mixtures with fruits, spices and other ingredients.
Among the properties of rooibos that we can highlight is its great antioxidant power; it helps reduce insomnia symptoms, digestion, and blood circulation. This leaf is unique to the western region of South Africa.
This infusion has the advantage that you can drink it as much as you want, you will find a wide variety, and today, it is the queen of inputs for the night. Look at all we have in our Rooibos store.
Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)
The daisy-like chamomile will flourish even in gravel and grow through pavement cracks. It treats insomnia and anxiety due to its mild sedative qualities. Chamomile is an immune booster and also a relaxant. The pleasant aroma of pineapple in chamomile contributes to its relaxing effect. These effects also help to a certain extent with stress control, calmness and all that goes with it.
“undervalued” brave little flower that possibly is the flower. Oldest consumed by humans.
Tea (Camellia Sinensis)
I have saved our dear and beloved tea as a remedy for high blood pressure. You may be thinking that I’ve gone crazy, but no. I have been reading studies for many years that support tea’s properties, specifically black tea, as an excellent ally for the heart and hypertension.
Some studies even point to it as a way to obtain new drugs to treat this problem that is so widespread worldwide and causes many diseases and deaths.
Some compounds in black and green tea have been found to relax blood vessels by activating ion channels in blood vessel proteins.
Two catechin-type flavonoids (epicatechin gallate and epigallocatechin-3 gallate) activate a type of ion channel protein called KCNQ5, located in the smooth muscle lining blood vessels.
This would not be the only key factor that makes tea an ally; there and more studies that rt it; I think the most important is the L-Theanine compound I am talking about in this post. It helps you reduce stress and consequently reduce blood pressure.
Soon I will publish a super exciting post about myths about tea; subscribe to the newsletter to keep up to date with the latest news and take a look at these products and other related posts.
